I’ll be 60 years old when I get out- Message from entrepreneur

Dear F5 Project,

Hello, my name is “C”. I have been going to your F5 meetings the last few weeks here at Cass County Jail. I have to admit the power of the positive message is very infectious.

I am currently a Federal detainee and am awaiting sentencing in February for drug charges that will take me away from freedom for 14-18 years.

F5 Project is from what I gather, built on helping felons to get a chance to find “normalcy”, to find a life other than the one we have right now.  Some of us can say we are  where we are because life gave us bad breaks, no way out, bad upbringing, full of abuse, ect..  I can say for myself it was a mix of all of the above. But more importantly it was because of my own bad choices.

You know how much one poor choice can change the course of one’s life and his/her search to find that place again where we could walk with  out heads high again in the normalcy of society.

I have been listening to the message you bring and the message your speakers bring the last few weeks and wondered if you and your organization have the ability to go one step further? I know that for the next decade plus I am going to be locked up, but I would like to stay in contact and learn as much as I can. I want to help others before they make the mistakes I did, so they dont have to wonder how they are going to make something of themselves when they are 60 years old. I also have some ideas of a business I want to start, but have no idea where to start, so I was wondering if we can stay in touch, because I imagine the markets are going to be so vastly different by the time I get out, Id like to stay up to date and be ready.

Thank you for coming in every week and helping us have hope, destroy the cycle and showing us that trust can be earned even when we are so far down the scale. I can wait to help others while Im in prison. Can you help me start an F5 Project meeting in the prison? Maybe I can help some guys before they get out?

Regards,

C

Response:

C,

Thank you for writing us. Most of us know exactly what its like to write a letter from inside the walls. Dull pencil, numbering the papers on the top right, drawing a picture at the end after our signature. I have to say that some of the best artists Ive met were locked up.

You say that our message is infectious… well, we say that your letter is inspiring. The hope that was a flicker that has fanned to flame is inspiring. We would love to help in any way we can with the ideas you brought to us. Your story may take a little longer, but the service you can offer other felons can start today. We are prepared to do whatever we can to help you help others. Lets setup a visitation and figure out how we can do this.

We got your back.

F5 Project.
